Long And Strong Bowl Turning Gouges By Ashley Iles

The outer surface of a 12″ diameter bowl travels at about a mile a minute. These long and strong bowl gouges are heavy to give the strength to resist the turning forces and are long to give you leverage. But the cut itself stays small and controlled. The largest of these gouges is a massive 1″ in diameter – the biggest bowl gouge on the market – which enables you to remove a lot of material fast. It comes unhandled with a 1-1/4″ ferrule so that you can make your own large handle.

Except where noted all tools are made of high speed steel (HSS) and are sold handled. Tony Iles hand finishes each and every turning tool himself and is proud that every tool is shipped with its surfaces ground and edges broken. These are tools that will feel wonderful in the hand, with a heft makes them feel very solid – a real aid in turning.
