Walnut Half Round Marking Gauge

This Marples marking gauge follows the traditional half-round English design, which makes it easier to hold. The gauge is made of American Black Walnut with brass inserts on the fence to prevent wear. The switch to Walnut from Rosewood was recently made by Marples as they phase out farmed rosewood but to import restrictions. Since we love Walnut we think this is a great, environmentally positive switch. The 8 1/2″ stem is unfinished (a little wax finish when you have the time will look awesome.) 6″ maximum effective gauging width. A fine tool. Made in Sheffield, England by Joseph Marples.
